WHY HILLSIDE

Detox that is safe, comfortable, and fast to access

Withdrawal from alcohol, benzodiazepines, and opioids can turn dangerous quickly. Where you go through it matters.

A bed today, not a waitlist

Admissions coordinators answer 24/7 and can typically have you admitted the same day you call. Transportation can be arranged.

Medically managed withdrawal

A physician-directed medical team assesses you on arrival, prescribes comfort and stabilization medication as needed, and monitors vitals throughout your stay.

Comfort that makes it easier to stay

Private modern rooms, chef-prepared meals, spa services, a fitness center, and a recreation room. You keep your cell phone. Support animals are welcome.

Insurance does the paying

We work with most major plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, and United Healthcare. Many clients pay little or nothing out of pocket. One call confirms your coverage before you commit to anything.
FACILITY GALLERY

See where you will detox

Detox is hard enough without a hospital hallway. Hillside is a private residence with medical care built in, not a clinic with beds.
TREATMENT PROCESS

What detox at Hillside looks like

A clear path from your first call to a stable, clear-headed next step.
STEP 1

Assessment on arrival

A nurse and physician evaluate your substance use, medical history, and withdrawal risk, then build a detox protocol specific to you.
STEP 2

Stabilization

Medication, hydration, nutrition, and continuous monitoring keep withdrawal symptoms controlled. Most clients complete detox in about 5 to 10 days depending on the substance.
STEP 3

Transition to treatment

Detox clears the substance. It does not treat the addiction. Before discharge, your care team maps your next step, whether that is residential treatment at Hillside or a program closer to home.

FAQ

Straight answers

Questions everyone asks first
If you drink daily, use benzodiazepines or opioids regularly, or have had withdrawal symptoms before (shaking, sweating, racing heart, nausea, anxiety), stopping unsupervised carries real risk. Alcohol and benzodiazepine withdrawal can cause seizures. A short phone assessment tells you where you stand.
When clinically appropriate, yes. Depending on the substance, that may include medications to prevent seizures, ease cravings, or manage symptoms like nausea and insomnia. Every medication decision is made by a physician based on your assessment, not a fixed protocol.

Yes. Hillside allows cell phones so you can stay in contact with family, your employer, or anyone else who needs to hear from you. Your clinical team may recommend limits during the first day or two if it helps you rest.

Comfortable clothing for about a week, toiletries, a photo ID, your insurance card, and a list of current medications. Admissions will go over anything that cannot come in. If you are arriving in a hurry, we can work around what you have.
Either. Family or friends can bring you directly, and admissions can arrange transportation if you have no safe way to get here. Tell the coordinator what you need and we will sort it out before you hang up.
You will be evaluated for co-occurring mental health conditions during intake. Hillside treats anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and other conditions alongside substance use, and psychiatric support begins during detox when it is needed.
No. Detox is its own level of care, and many clients continue into residential treatment at Hillside because it removes the gap where relapse most often happens. If you have another plan, your care team will coordinate with that program before you leave.
Not unless you tell them. Your admission and treatment records are protected by HIPAA and federal confidentiality rules for substance use treatment. If you need documentation for FMLA or medical leave, we can provide it without disclosing details.

The hardest part is this call. We will handle everything after it.

One confidential conversation. No pressure, no judgment, just clear answers about coverage, cost, and how soon you can be somewhere safe.
